Many followed the news of Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s pregnancy since they unpredictably announced it to the world in August on the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. On Saturday night, the couple welcomed a baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, at Lenox Hall Hospital in New York.
Baby Blue’s arrival was a trending topic on several social networks. Celebrity tweets were mostly about congratulating the new addition to the Carter family. “Welcome to the world princess Carter, Love Aunty Rih,” Pop Star Rihanna tweeted.
Gwyneth Paltrow, B’s BFF, also tweeted, “Welcome to the world Blue. We love you already. It’s Blue Ivy Carter!”
The media reported several versions of Blue Ivy’s birth. Jay-Z and Beyoncé allegedly paid $ 1 million to rent off a floor in the hospital, so that no one could enter the area while Beyoncé was giving birth. It was also said that patients who walked by the secluded area of the hospital that night claimed that the couple’s security turned them away from the floor, but the hospital denies that security locked down the floor according to MSNBC. Spokesman Frank Danza said “they were in “executive suites” and were billed the standard rate for those accommodations.” Since the lock down, however, parents have complained that they weren’t able to see their sick babies and were treated like second class citizens. The Head of Lenox Hospital is now investigating the complaints. He says that none of the parents he interviewed reported being stopped.
Although, few hospital patients on the night of B’s labor claimed to catch a glimpse of the baby, that was the only public view of Baby Blue. Jay-Z and Beyoncé’ haven’t released any pictures of their little girl as of yet
