This one is for the chocolate girls! Singer Kelly Rowland has mentioned a few times in recent interviews the lack of diversity in entertainment and says she sometimes ‘looked crazy’ in her Destiny’s Child days because her makeup artists had a hard time matching her skin tone.
Well the beautiful songstress says she has the solution. Rowland has revealed that she’ll be launching a makeup line created specifically for women of color according to an interview with Essence on Monday night at an event sponsored by Claritin and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
“My makeup artist Sheika Daley and I are actually starting a makeup line we’re making sure we make, well, we’re starting off with lashes and then we’re going to have it grow for all women,” Rowland told Essence. “But definitely making sure we have our chocolate girls covered. Gotta get the chocolate girls in there! We have to have that, you know. I think Iman has done a beautiful makeup line and I want to do it too!”
Reportedly the makeup line will be starting with lashes and then will be expanding from there with plans on “making sure we have our chocolate girls. At the time, she hasn’t shared a launch dates just yet.
In the interim, a new album is on the way as well as a book that she is excited about but sadly can’t reveal details. Congrats Kelly!
