So many Christians pray, go to church, go through the motions and are still unfulfilled. They feel miserable on the inside and become reclusive. Mostly, because some of them aren’t meditating on the word of God.
Trust me, I know first hand how boring reading the Bible can be — every time you attempt to read it, somehow, everything else seems more important. You get sleepy. Your ex calls! I’m almost sure this is the trick of the enemy. However, if you want to receive God’s promises, you have to read the word.
With that being said, as a writer, I want to be 100 % real with my feelings. Christians are the first to be labeled hypocrites, but we aren’t perfect. We eat, sleep, bleed just like you do. We also fall but it’s up to us to get back up again.
Today, is the sixth day of my of my 7 day fast, and I noticed that prayer alone isn’t cutting it. Eventually, I would become unfulfilled. Because feeding our spirit includes reading the word, which can be a cure for feelings of depression, anxiety, irritability and etc. When you starve your spirit, it becomes famished and negative thoughts occur.
Next time you feel unmotivated or doubtful, stand on God’s promises. He will do what he says in his word that he will do.
Here’s a few promises from Bible Gateway:
2 Corinthians 1:19-20For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us–by me and Silvanus and Timothy–was not yes and no, but is yes in Him. For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.
“My covenant I will not violate, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.
“Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the LORD your God spoke about you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.
1 John 2:25
This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea.
Galatians 5:22-23But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
I sought the LORD, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.
Surely, thus says the LORD, “Even the captives of the mighty man will be taken away, And the prey of the tyrant will be rescued; For I will contend with the one who contends with you, And I will save your sons.
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
‘For I will restore you to health And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the LORD, ‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying: “It is Zion; no one cares for her.”‘
Psalm 91:4-6He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
John 5:28-29“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
John 14:2-3“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
Thank you God for your promises, and I will continue to stand on your promises knowing that you will do what you said you will do.
Notes: Today, I felt depressed and meditated on God’s promises and felt motivated.
