As women, we are full of desires i.e the perfect family, job, man, hair or even shoes — well maybe not that superficial. But when your heart is set on unfulfilled desires, it can bring on a feeling of hopelessness. Those feelings arrive, especially, when you need helpful advice, and everyone offers the most cliché’ phrases ever…”just keep the faith,” “know that it will get greater later,” etc, etc. I’m just being real!
This advice is only the same lesson you’ve been taught all of your life in church, considering you’ve been in church all of your life, and you just want to hear something different for a change. The only thought that crosses your mind is what could be greater? Is greater what I’ve prayed for?
However, if the only way to feel satisfied is by having that one thing that makes you happy in life, then love, that’s not genuine faith! You are giving control to your desires. The only problem with that is, we always have a new want.
The only way to be fulfilled is to give it up to the creator — whether we know what direction he will take us or not! Sometimes we’ll never understand. True faith is being able to see pass these desires through a bold and unwavering faith that only comes from knowing that something better is coming.
True faith is giving broken relationships, old jobs, and tough situations up to him. That doesn’t mean taking matters into our own hands and calling up Sabrina to give her a piece of your mind for hurting you. It means completely letting go! #RipToThePast
This morning, I read the scripture of the day, which I read many times. But every time I read it, God ministers to me in different ways. It said:
Isaiah 40:28-31New Living Translation (NLT)
28 Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Even when failure to have your own desires met have you growing weary and you are walking in circles through doors that God has already closed, stop, and trust that another door will open. Never be discouraged because it’s not the door that you would like to see open. “No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” Not even us. Trust that he has that situation already worked out.
That’s what unbreakable faith looks like!
