The two long-time friends, Serena Williams and Meghan Markle, share advice and they genuinely support one another in their endeavors. You should see it. They have the cutest sister-bond!
It all started when they first met in 2010. Unaware of what would bloom, they competed in the DirectTV Beach Bowl together in 2014. Since, their friendship has grown into an incredibly inspiring one – one that every woman with dreams and drive should develop.
Tennis athlete Williams is very vocal about the support she has for her royal friend. Recently, according to Harpars Bazaar, during a launch event for Serena’s clothing line on Wednesday night, the athlete opened up about one of their conversations. Their bond was apparent in the way that they interacted with one another.
When asked about her friend, Williams said, “I’m like, ‘How are you?’ and she’s like, ‘No, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘You’re so sweet, but I’m really asking – how are YOU?’ I’m like, ‘Meghan, stop being so nice…you’re the pregnant one, aren’t you supposed to have hormones, why are you so sweet?’ But that’s always been her.”
In addition to their authenticity, they share unbiased advice. Williams, who not long ago had a baby, one-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia, reportedly has been sharing her personal advice with the Duchess of Sussex on motherhood.
Williams’ advice is pretty simple: “It will come,” she said. I don’t know what’s going to happen, I didn’t know how I’m going to have a baby, and it all came,” Serena added to People. “It’s so crazy, I totally changed, and it literally is like a switch. And so, I say that, ‘It will come.”
Meghan “still gives me more advice,” Serena said.
Recently, Meghan was spotted wearing a blazer from Williams’ collection while on the Royal Tour in Australia. Shortly after, the gray blazer sold out online.
The support isn’t one-sided.
Williams praised Markle’s first cookbook on social media and supported her in her royal wedding.
“I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex your first project “Together” a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together,” Serena wrote in an Instagram post. “I could not be more excited about it and proud of you. It’s beautiful – diversity, inclusivity, coming together in grief or joy – there is just so much love.”
It has been said that you are the average of the people you spend the most time around. One of the most important factors in leveling up is surrounding yourself with the best!
Good luck to the both of them!
